INTRODUCTION:

All right! It's time to start! Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, and this time, as you know, an instrumental acoustic chilling album!
I'm gonna be recording most of the guitars and basses. Juan will do the percussion and Josh some guitars and basses as well.
Luckily we've been offered to record the album with sound engineer Antonio (Juan's friend) in Worthing at Northbrook Studios! So here we are preparing ourselves to get into a professional recording studio!

27 March 2010

Finally we started recording!!! It's a shame that I was very sick for this first session but we still did a very good job.
We recorded basses, percussion and rhythm guitars of 2 tracks: Bossablues and Groove Island.
We still have to record all melodies and leads for these songs, but that's another story!
The atmosphere is great! Having Antonio as sound engineer is very relaxing, and together with Juan in percussion is a very good combination.
Unfortunately Josh couldn't come to this session but hopefully he will be recording some of the tracks.
Anyway, everything sounds great even before mixing it, so what can I say?...I'm very happy!

12 April 2010

Here we go again!
This time Josh is joining the session and we are actually doing one song that he created called Wasted Journey that has a very refreshing chords.
I recorded the bass track for this song and Juan the congas and bongos.
Josh also came up with a very nice melody and some improvised bits on the guitar.
We have to record some crazy blues guitar solos in future sessions, that go in the end of the song.

13 April 2010

Very loooong session but very productive as well!
During the morning Juan re-recorded some bongos for Bossablues and Groove Island and also started recording the “cajon” for the Spanish Flamenco style track named Travesia!
After an also very Spanish lunch (bocadillo de chorizo, Ole!) I started recording the lead guitars for Bossablues and Groove Island plus another rhythm guitars. Lot of takes and hours but finally everything is there! Already 2 songs are complete!

I must say that recording the acoustic guitar with 3 different mics on 3 different tracks is amazing, you can hear everything on the recording, all the small details! It’s just great!

Well, that’s all for now!
Next session is booked in a couple of days and we should finish Travesia... hopefully!
And remember to KEEP ROCKING!

pd: Better photos coming soon!!!

I’m heading to the studio just with Antonio today. Our mission: Record as much as possible of Travesia! I started with the bass and carried on with the guitars until all of it was complete! Nice achievement! I’m very pleased with the result as I strongly believe Travesia will be one of the more successful tunes in the album!

4 May 2010

Once again just Antonio and me going to the studio. Today we worked on a blues track called “La Cosa del Pantano” (A swamp thing) that has a very tricky rhythm!
Ben, a friend of mine, came to the studio to start documenting all the process of recording this album. We’re planning include a DVD with all this “making of” as part of a special edition.

14 May 2010

Today we have the full band in the studio! Juan finished the percussion for La cosa del pantano and Travesia. Later Josh and I recorded the guitar solos in Wasted Journey.

23 June 2010

This time it’s Juan and me recording a song called Dry Land that has a hint of Flamenco and a lot of different twists. Not finished yet but the main percussions (Cajon and Djembe), bass guitar and rhythm guitars are done. In this song my friend Diego will be playing a guitar solo as a guest. Also Ben came to film more footage for the DVD of the making of for the “Special Edition”.
And as usual Antonio was recording and mixing the album!

25 June 2010

Last summer session in the studio! We started recording a track called “El Acertijo” (The Riddle) that will probably be the first track in the CD. We’re gonna finish recording all the percussions in a different studio and will be back in the Worthing Studio in September during to the summer break.
Good news are that I’m planing to release an EP with some songs to anticipate the main CD that will be probably released at the end of 2010...
